6th Annual OZONE Day Brings Our "Sustainable Summer" to Life at Waikiki Aquarium

Hello summer, hello clean oceans!

We're so excited for Outrigger's Sustainable Summer, a collection of events and partner retail offers, all championing our collective effort for healthy oceans and coral reefs.

Kicking off on June 8 for World Ocean Day and running through August 31, Sustainable Summer is making it fun to come together to save—and celebrate—our oceans.

OZONE Day at Waikiki Aquarium

Outrigger's Zone (a.k.a. OZONE) is an award-winning global conservation initiative that aims to help our oceans thrive for generations to come. We do this not only via our resorts but also by spreading awareness and inspiring action—from hands-on coral planting (yes, you can do it too!) to Earth Day fashion-slash-art shows.

And OZONE Day was back for its sixth annual installation as part of this year's Sustainable Summer.

On June 25, some of our favorite fellow ocean-minded organizations came together at the iconic Waikiki Aquarium, where you can find everything from a living coral reef exhibit to sharks and sea jellies. 

Outside on the lawn, family-friendly pop-ups brought the best of our oceans together for a day of inclusive conservation, including ocean-themed games, shave ice, live music, and giveaways from groups like Surfrider Foundation, Friends of Hokulea and Hawaiiloa, NOAA, UH Sea Grant, Board of Water Supply, Parley for the Oceans, reef-safe sunscreen brand Raw Elements, The Coral Conservancy, the Bishop Museum, and Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.

Sustainable Summer in action

The events and conservation collabs continue all summer long at our properties around the world, from joining Trash Heroes Koh Samui in their weekly beach clean-ups on Lamai Beach in Thailand to planting coral in Fiji to the famous Duke's Oceanfest in Waikiki.

We're also partnering with local retailers and restaurants around Waikiki for special offers and discounts, like free totes with purchase from handcrafted jewelry fave The Cove, specials at the country's first completely off-grid brewery Maui Brewing Co., and the Hawaii package at zero-waste shop Keep It Simple.
