The best months for sightings

The humpback whale season typically lasts from December through April, with some sightings in the bridge months of November and May. But the busiest season for sightings is usually concentrated between January and March.

Some of the best sighting locations are the warm, shallow waters of the Auau Channel on the western coast of Maui between the sister islands of Molokai and Lanai.

You can see these stunning creatures from the shore, flying over on a small plane, sailing on a catamaran, paddling a canoe or even from a stand-up paddleboard.
